Integrative Human Enneagram Signature Interview
SIGNATURE CLARITY FOR ACCELERATED HEALING AND GROWTH
The Integrative Human Enneagram™ is a powerful and wise map of humanity—one that reflects the full range of human experience, motivation, and development. The whole Enneagram lives within us, yet each of us moves through life from a particular place within that whole.
In the Integrative Human Enneagram, this lived place is called a Signature: the unique way instinct, development, and meaning-making come together in your life over time. The Signature Interview supports you in identifying your Signature with clarity and care—providing a grounded starting point for ongoing self-discovery.
It describes how instinct and development organize themselves in your life—how attention, energy, and resilience reliably move across different circumstances. It’s the reason certain relational and inner dynamics repeat at work, in intimacy, under stress, and in growth—often even when you’re trying to change them.
Where personality explains the resilient ways you think, feel, behave, relate, motivate and focus yourself, your Signature reveals how your system is fundamentally wired energetically to move through the world—and most importantly—survive it. These are existential dynamics rising into habituated living.
Most people sense this orientation long before they can name it. Your Signature gives language to something you already live.
Why It’s Hard to Find Alone
Many Enneagram approaches focus on identifying one of nine personality patterns, sometimes alongside instinctual dominance. The Integrative Human Enneagram builds on this foundation by offering an integrated understanding of instinctual dynamics—how instinct and personality interlock to shape behavior, regulation, and growth as they unfold in lived experience.
With 54 distinct Signatures, this level of nuance can be difficult to sort through on one’s own. Reading, reflection, or tests often lead to oscillation between possibilities, insight without orientation, or practices that don’t quite land. The process can become slow and confusing without guidance.
At 5aspects, we make this easier.
The Signature Interview is conducted by us through live, relational inquiry—tracking instinctual, physiological, and psychological expression as it unfolds in real time, including pre-verbal cues that aren’t accessible through self-reflection or testing alone.
The Difference Clarity Makes
When you know your Signature, growth becomes more efficient and more precise. Your attention naturally organizes around what supports your system, allowing practices to land more easily and healing efforts to gain focus. Decisions begin to reflect how your energy, resilience, and attention are arranged—bringing a sense of coherence between inner experience and outer direction.
Many people describe the shift as subtle but unmistakable—like putting on glasses they didn’t know they needed. Life doesn’t suddenly change, but clarity increases, friction decreases, and growth begins to move in a more coherent direction.
Knowing your Signature doesn’t do the work for you. It makes the work dramatically more effective.

What We Mean by Signature
A Signature describes not only what motivates you, but how motivation, resilience, and attention reliably organize themselves in lived experience—across the body, relationships, and life phases. It is formed through three elements:
Instincts
There are three core survival instincts:
· Self-Preservation
· Social
· Sexual
These instincts govern how attention, energy, and safety-seeking are prioritized.
Configuration
When two instincts are dominant and one is less emphasized, they form one of six instinctual configurations. A Configuration describes how survival intelligence is choreographed—the energetic and regulatory pattern that tends to be felt before it is consciously understood.
Path
A Path refers to the Enneagram’s nine developmental pathways—each describing a distinct psychological and meaning-making orientation.
A Signature emerges when a particular Configuration is embedded within a specific Path. There are 54 distinct Signatures in the Integrative Human Enneagram.
How the Signature Interview Works
The Signature Interview is a structured, one-to-one conversation guided by questions related to instinct, configuration, and Enneagram Path. The questions are designed to invite real-time responses—allowing patterns of orientation, regulation, and meaning-making to emerge naturally as we speak.

What Often Unfolds Over Time
As you explore the Signatures and orientations offered through the interview, many people begin to recognize patterns that had previously felt familiar but undefined. This may include greater clarity around recurring emotional or relational themes, instinctual priorities in intimacy or work, and how resilience expresses itself across different phases of life.
Common experiences include a settling sense of understanding, increased self-compassion, and the feeling of being met without being framed through deficits. Recognition unfolds through lived reflection and engagement over time—by working with a map that finally fits.

and precision, the Signature Interview offers a grounded place to begin.
Questions You May Have
No. And that’s by design.
The interview gives orientation, not final certainty. You leave with a clearly defined set of possibilities, and clarity continues to emerge as you engage in self-discovery with those Signatures over time. This unfolding is not a limitation of the process—it is the process.
No. The interview works equally well for those new to the Enneagram and those with extensive experience. Prior knowledge is not required and is not an advantage.
The interview is the beginning of a process, not a stand-alone solution. It supports focused self-exploration by clarifying which Signatures are most relevant to you. From there, some people continue with personal reflection alone, while others choose to deepen the work through one-to-one sessions, group work, or training.
The Enneagram can be used in different ways. In the Integrative Human Enneagram, Signatures are not treated as fixed identities or goals to move beyond, but as living developmental patterns.
This approach begins with appreciation for how life is already organizing itself, and offers orientation from that starting point. Growth is understood as expansion from what is present—rather than movement toward an idealized state. Over time, this supports a deeper understanding of how experience organizes and naturally evolves across a living developmental arc.
Your self-discovery journey begins.
Most people start by spending time with the follow-up interview document, exploring the Signature candidates and orientations it outlines, and noticing how they show up in daily life, relationships, and moments of stress or ease.
From there, next steps vary. Some people continue through personal reflection and self-guided practice. Others choose to deepen the work through one-to-one sessions, group work, or training, depending on what feels most supportive at this stage. There’s no required sequence. The interview offers orientation, and how you engage from there remains your choice.
